Art and identity on stage: this was Watayponchos 2024

Caylloma schoolchildren celebrate the closing of the " Watayponchos en Escena 2024" program with a spectacular artistic presentation.

Caylloma, November 2024.- With an innovative presentation that combined dance and theater, 51 students from the "Gran Libertador Simón Bolívar" IE in the Caylloma district (Arequipa region), celebrated the successful completion of the " Watayponchos en Escena 2024" program, an initiative promoted by Minera Bateas to strengthen the soft skills of young people from Caylloma .

The closing ceremony, attended by approximately 90 people, including local authorities, teachers, and parents, featured the performance "Fábulas de Caylloma," a work that integrated four different dances and four microstories, demonstrating the talent and progress of the participants.

During the months of September and October, the students actively participated in weekly dance and theater workshops, where they not only developed their artistic talents but also strengthened fundamental skills such as leadership, perseverance, creativity, and discipline.

The participants emphasized the importance of this activity for developing their soft skills. "This is a very good initiative because many of us enjoy dance and theater. Here we've been able to relax and rest our minds," said one of the program participants.

Eduardo Asmat, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Minera Bateas, highlighted the importance of this initiative: "Offering young people a space where they can develop skills through art is essential to helping them express themselves better, work as a team, and gain self-confidence."

Among the authorities present at the closing ceremony were Wuielber Cayani , president of the United Front for the Defense of the Interests of the Caylloma District - FUDICAY, councilors Gabino Llallacachi and Elizabeth Maque, as well as the director and teachers of the beneficiary educational institution.
