Bateas celebrates World Safety Day with technology

Caylloma , April 2025.- In the context of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Minera Bateas reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive well-being of its employees through an approach that combines cutting-edge technology, specialized training, and the goal of consolidating a culture of prevention at all levels of the organization.

The company was recently awarded the Plaque of Honor in the Underground Mining category of the 28th National Mining Safety Competition, organized by the Peruvian Mining Safety Institute (ISEM). This recognition highlights the company's preventive management, which recorded no fatal accidents in 2024, maintained frequency and severity indicators below required standards, and exceeded one million man-hours worked.

As part of its "Bateas Digital" strategy, the company has implemented innovative technological solutions to strengthen safety in its operations. Of particular note is the creation of the Mine Control Center, a platform that integrates real-time monitoring of critical systems such as pumping, ventilation, and maintenance, enabling anticipation of potential failures and improving decision-making in the field.

In underground mining, Minera Bateas implements cutting-edge solutions such as Wi -Fi coverage and IP communications at all levels using N- Connex technology . Its production process is also optimized using the Sub Level method. Stopping with long drills, reducing personnel exposure in risk areas. In addition, the company is developing a system of identification chips connected to the wireless network, which allows workers to be located in real time, strengthening emergency response capacity.

In occupational health, Minera Bateas has incorporated artificial intelligence to analyze medical examinations, thanks to a partnership with the Pulso clinic. This tool helps identify early signs of potential conditions and facilitates timely diagnoses and more effective preventative treatments. In addition, the company has a mental health program led by a resident psychologist, who provides guidance and support to employees in situations that may affect their well-being.

“Our vision goes beyond regulatory compliance; we work to consolidate a mature safety culture, where every employee recognizes the risks to which they are exposed and responsibly applies the necessary controls,” says Harold Astorga, Director of Safety, Occupational Health and Environment (SSOMA) at Minera Bateas. “In 2025, we will continue to strengthen the 'Zero Harm' program in partnership with the University of São Paulo, aimed at training in critical risk management and responsible decision-making at all levels of the company,” he adds.

The OSH management at Minera Bateas is characterized by a comprehensive approach that incorporates safety, occupational health, environmental, and geotechnical aspects , along with an ongoing training plan developed in partnership with the Mining Safety Institute and certified specialists. These actions reflect the company's commitment to building a safe and healthy work environment for all its employees.
